MY EXPERIENCE

I am a white northern european-american neurodivergent queer and trans speech language pathologist from Oregon.

I spent my undergraduate years at Portland State University. I studied Social Science, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Special Education. I did this while working as a nanny to local families and as a personal support care worker to teens with disabilities who communicated using behavior. I met and learned from these teens while working with campers and counselors at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp.

My graduate program was completed with Pacific University where I had the opportunity to work as a student clinician in Pacific University’s Gender Affirming Voice Clinic for a year. I discovered my love for voice training and supporting my trans community find the tools they need to express themselves authentically. I now house this clinic and mentor students doing this work. I also found my passion for neurological progressive disease support and research through my mentor Dr. Amanda Stead as her graduate assistant.

I have also spent time in Asante, MedStar, and Kaiser health systems working with individuals across the lifespan for voice, neuroprogressive diseases, stroke and traumatic brain injury recovery, long covid, executive functioning support, stuttering, swallowing disorders, head and neck cancers, alaryngeal communication, chronic cough, and memory loss.

Currently I work in the San Diego area providing online services through my private practice and performing speech therapy home health support to individuals across the lifespan. I sing in a Chorus and receive my own gender affirming voice training with a Speech Language Pathologist. I know this work is vulnerable but it can also be so much fun.

I look forward to getting to know you and working together towards your goals.
